Welcome to Training Guides to Industry

This Web Site was designed by the Steelworkers Charitable and Educational Organization for our members in the basic steel industry and others who are interested in hazard recognition and control in basic steel. This project was done with the help of funding received from a grant from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Basic steel is a high hazard industry where workers are at increased risk of work-related injuries and illnesses. The information on this site includes specific modules covering basic steel industry and associated processes; an overview of safety and health in the basic steel industry; particular hazards and controls in basic steel, including facility-wide hazards; technological change and work restructuring in basic steel and their impact on safety and health; making non-routine work safer; and increasing the effectiveness of safety and health committees. We hope you find this information useful in your efforts to improve health and safety in your workplace. We invite you to utilize the information contained in these modules and welcome your comments. You can email us at  safety@usw.org.  il safety@usw.org
